Welcome to The Behavioural Engineer
10 hours per week.
2 days per month.
22 days per year.
7 months per decade.
Nearly 5 years in an average lifetime.
That’s how much time the average person loses to mindless distractions.
Not things that enrich life, but things that actively make it worse.
The world has never been more saturated with ways to numb yourself. Ads, apps, and substances relentlessly battle for your time, energy, and focus.
This publication gives you the tools and insights to take them back.
Not just to feel healthier (though that's a nice bonus).
Not for the sake of productivity (though that’s helpful too).
But so you can stop drifting on autopilot and start living as an active participant in your own life.
I don’t want to reach my deathbed and realise I lost the battle for my attention. That I sleepwalked through life, pulled whichever way my urges or environment demanded.
If you don’t either, you’re in the right place.
Who the hell am I?
I’m Shane — husband, coach, and a recovered addict to a cocktail of lethal substances.
I’ve spent the last 5+ years helping clients rewire their habits and rebuild a life they’re proud of.
You won’t find any hustle-culture, virtue-signalling macho bullshit here. I’ve been that guy and I’ve lived that life — you’re about three years too late.
These days, I’m passionate about working with men who want to explore the middle: embodying traits of strength, resilience, and discipline, whilst leaving space for compassion, connection, and joy.

This newsletter is where I share insights, practical tools and the occasional half-baked philosophical take to help you reclaim your time, energy and focus for the stuff that actually matters.
If that sounds like something you could use more of, stick around.
